Re a music posting: In my opinion Wagner was a second-rate composer who thought himself grand. He wanted to be Beethoven after the poor sod had been dead for decades. His music is turgid and interminable. The whole thing consists of interminably long cadences with the odd bit of activity in between. I can, of course, back up my views with musical analysis. He was also a vicious anti-semite, which is even more inexcusable than his music.
