The post

Last night I received yet another letter in the post, this time from the ASD centre. I had to fill in three questionnaires, which I've done. The letter says you have to bring someone with you who knew you as a child. In my case that's impossible, as there isn't anyone. Except one brother, that is, and I don't want to bring him, so I've told them I'm estranged from my family and never had any friends until quite recently (in terms of my lifespan). They asked about my family and is there any history of mental ilness? I replied that I don't know, except my mum's family were completely barmy (which was true. There aren't many kids whose uncle has chased them with a knife). They were all of them round the fucking bend. The lot of them. Scary. Like the evil family in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The letter says they will not see you without this person. I tell you what, if that happens to me I will make such a noise. I know they have a clinical standard to adhere to, but what about older people. What happens if all your childhood acquaintances are dead? It don't seem fair.
