A musical interlude

Meet the harpsichord, my favourite instrument. The one at the top is very similar to the instrument I learned on, although the colour scheme is different. Why on earth the one at the bottom has been stuck on a lawn is beyond me, as the instrument's sound is so delicate, that it is practically inaudible outdoors.Apart from their beautiful sound, harpsichords are beautiful objects. The dimensions, shape and reverse keyboard are very elegant.  Very often the soundboard is painted with flowers or birds. The inside of the lid can be a work of art in itself. These were expensive items; note the japanned instrument in the garden, with its outrageous, cantilever legs. The instrument at the top keeps to a much more classical form, and is quite unfussy in its decoration.

I hope you like the recording of La Poule (the Hen) by Rameau.
