Yesterday there was an entertainer at the pub, so I'd agreed to go there earlier than normal for a bit of support. It was very embarrassing; people carried on talking throughout and a couple of regulars turned back without coming in when they heard the music. Someone said they would rather that I played, and in earshot of the entertainer. Ouch. What was nice for me is that my brother was on duty there, and quite a few friends and family came by during the course of the day. A local lady who dresses up as a Pearly Queen asked me if I would play for her when she does her stuff. Yes please! The weather continued beautiful yesterday so I took some photographs of the sun setting over the sea.
I had a really good talk with lovely people. Then a group of people came in to celebrate someone's birthday, and they asked me to play. There was a really rousing singalong. Lovely. Afterwards I got back to socialising, and someone came over and asked me to play because the local press were there. So we did the whole thing over again. It went down so well, and it makes me so happy that people get such enjoyment from the old songs. The pub have asked me to play for St George's Day. I'm glad I haven't stopped going there.
