Yesterday's beautiful sunset

I went to see the landlord to explain the business with the agent I wouldn't let in. They were fine and have re-booked it for Tuesday. I mustn't forget it this time.
After dinner I went to the pub, and it was full of people that I didn't know. The landlady told me they were expecting two pub-crawls that night, so I said I would play. I sat down and started to get myself warmed up, and I heard the person whose name I will not repeat come in. The people started singing and he was loud and disruptive, as usual.  The singing stopped completely, so I put my survival plan into place by playing 'Asturias' by Albeniz, from one of the Suites Espanolas.
the first group arrived, and by then all the other people had left. I started playing the old songs and heard someone remark 'I bet he can't play Chopin'. So I did. They loved it and asked me to play other classical pieces. They really enjoyed it. Something came out of it; one man came and started talking to me. He has a group that play Edwardian songs at the theatre, but couldn't find a decent pianist. He asked me if I'd be interested. Of course I would! Two other people came to me and said they were trumpeters in a swing band. They asked me if I'd like to play for them. I explained I'd never played that sort of music before, but would be happy to give it a try.
When the group left I spent  some time with friends. By then my brother had also arrived, and so had another pint. By the by the second group arrived, so I did the Knees Up Mother Brown stuff. The lady in charge of the group stopped me and asked if I would play the things I'd played to the other group. So I played classical. I'm so pleased that my reputation is spreading by word of mouth.
I forgot to mention that yesterday, I bumped into someone who is connected with the historical building where I play. Apparently they want to put on some events that require a bit of harpsichording. I'll go and see them over the weekend.
That was a good night.
