A musical interlude
I went to the shopkeeper's yard to have another go on his piano, pictured above. Where it had been out in the rain all night there was water running down the inside of the lid and onto the keys. Some of the keys were so waterlogged that it was impossible to depress them. It took a considerable amount of force to play, but I managed three music-hall favourites; Oh Oh Antonio, My Old Man Said Follow The Van, and Hold Your Hand Out Naughty Boy. The instrument sounds quite like the one that Malcolm Arnold wrote the Belles Of St Trinians music for. The old songs sound quite lovely on it.
