A visitor to our pub recently wrote a very kind report on trip advisor. I would like to share this with you.
If you're looking for a place to play pool with loud music, where the football dominates on a big screen in the background, this is not the place to be - thank heavens!
There is a pub for everything and everything has a place and this little gem, sheltered near to the end of XXXXXX is a jewel where you can relax, take your mind away from the rest of the world and lose yourself in memories of "The Good Old Days" of 1970s TV fame by singing songs around the piano, deftly played by Cliff. Let your inner Edwardian come rolling out as you sing Roll out the Barrel, take a few minutes to ponder life as Cliff fingers Schubert's Impromptu in A Flat.
I was that football and dance music pub goer...until I discovered the XXXX pub and fell deeply INTO the arms of the regulars...an evening of ale drinking with names like Old Textbook, playing scrabble and singing Lily Marlene (after 4 pints). The small fishing-themed room is like stepping into a Sophie Sirot painting, but instead of French you hear Londoners like me mixing with locals in friendly banter, where such a wide mix of ages talk to each other putting the world to rights. I love it and delight in visiting every week. Visit; drink; sing and enjoy!
I have disguised the name of the pub for the sake of anonymity.
