An old piano

Yesterday I got speaking to the local shopkeepers who own the retro shops. One of them told me he had an old piano in his yard with a 'play me' sign on it. He invited me to have a go on it, so I did. It was wonderful. It had endured just the right amount of neglect to give it a wonderful twangy quality, and render it painfully out of tune. The touch was heavy and the instrument felt damp. The old-time songs sounded amazing on it. I had an audience of two; an old lady who said she hadn't realised that it still 'worked', and a shopkeeper who made a video of my playing. She said she will send it to me later. Lovely!
