On Saturday night I watched another Stewart Granger melodrama,
The Lamp Still Burns (1943). It's all about trainee nurses in wartime London, and was a great morale-booster when it first came out. I couldn't help remembering that 1943 was the year that my Grandfather was killed in the invasion of Sicily. I also watched a few Laurel & Hardy films including
Helpmates (1932), which is one of my favourites.
