Une chanson d'Edith Piaf

Edith Piaf. Why do I so love her songs? Her intonation is quite poor. There is far too much, even uncontrolled vibrato. The songs are not very well written. They rely the use of sequences ad infinitum, and sloshy lyrics.
I'll tell you what I like. She has a fantastic presence. She has a fantastic delivery. She engages with the listener. Her songs are full of compassion and humanity. There are some lovely and memorable tunes. She's had a hard life, which informs her performance.
She is one of my favourite artistes. Very special, a one-off. Hope you enjoy the video of 'La Vie en Rose'.
