The late steam boat accident

I have already told you that I was born in Greenwich. Having researched my family history, I now know that we have been in the area since about 1750. The reasons I undertook the family history bit were as follows: I wanted to know why we didn't have many relations, and I wanted an explanation for the dysfunctionality of the relations we did have. As a result I have concluded that I don't think I would have liked my ancestors any more than the relations I have known, although I am endlessly fascinated by the worlds in which they lived.
I would like to share the above newspaper item from 1843 with you. George Meadows was my ancestor.
