Work

Today was the last day of my work placement. I asked the manager at 11.30am if I would be staying on, and she said she would talk to me. At the end of my shift I still hadn't heard from her, so I knocked on her door. The long and short of it was that they were very pleased with my work, but there was no job. I wish she had told me at 11.30am, because I could have gone home.
I think I've had a lucky escape, from what I've seen of the place. The work was heavy and I didn't like it, but I would willingly have done it. I know that if I had started there I'd have got completely stuck there, and unable to break out.
I am relieved, rather than upset that I didn't get a job. I believe that the manager could have been more honest with me when I first asked her.
The place is inundated with people on work placements. I wonder if they rely on a steady supply of unpaid workers to keep their costs down?
