Schoenberg: Serenade Op.24 (1924)

This is another one of my favourite pieces, and expresses my mood at the moment. Although the composer's use of tonality seems very avant-garde, it's actually firmly rooted in the tonality of previous eras. It is in fact very traditional in concept and structure, and makes wonderful play of nuance and timbre.
