Today

I've got two things on for today. First of all I have my lunchtime appointment. When that's over I'm going straight to the historic building to play for the party of visitors. I don't really feel like either as I'm much too tired, my brain more so than my body. My arms and hands ache from all the housework and all the playing, but I find that much easier to manage than the mental exhaustion.

First thing

I got up feeling out of sorts and went into the front room for the usual fags and coffee. The place smelled of shampoo, in fact I remember smelling it during the night but was too tired to get up, so I just pushed the bedroom window a bit further open. I really should have hovered yesterday. After coffee I sorted out another lot of cds, hovered and did the carpet again.

The weather

It's a repeat of yesterday, chilly and breezy during the night and warm and sunny during the day. I love this weather.

Sleep

My sleep was interrupted all night, and I was wide awake but drowsy at half past three. I didn't fall asleep again until gone five, and woke up with a start when the alarm rang at seven.

Tales of Beatrix Potter

On Tuesday evening I went to get some olive oil from the cupboard under the sink, and noticed that the mousetrap had moved. My heart sank and I took a deep breath before investigating further. I glanced for a split-second and saw a wee beastie lying there dead. The sight was revolting and I felt totally ashamed of myself for killing it. Of course I can't have mice around my food, but I'd much rather they didn't come round in the first place. I went and had a couple of fags in the front room before tying the thing up in a plastic bag, and taking it downstairs to one of the skips. It's very upsetting.

The end of yesterday

I meant to hoover the living room when I got home, as per the shampoo-makers' instructions, but had neither the inclination nor the energy to do it. I had a fry-up for dinner before watching episodes 14-18 of The Great War. In my younger day I thought the Russian Revolution was wonderful, but grew out of that way of thinking when I realised that all it had achieved was to replace one tyrant by another. Bed just after ten.

Incomprehensable

Online I just say a picture of a huge dog, and an aggressive breed too, with its tongue over a baby's face. The tongue lay across the baby's mouth and half of its face. What is the matter with people? Haven't they heard of toxocara worms? Don't they know the animal carries all sorts of nasty, harmful bugs? Don't they know the dog uses its tongue to clean itself? Perhaps they do know, but aren't at all concerned that the animal may have licked its arse, nether regions and any other part of its body just prior to licking the baby? I could vomit where I sit.
Sod it. Here's the bloody picture so you can make up your own mind.
