The present
Yesterday my friend from Uni gave me a hamper for Christmas, full of the loveliest things. When I opened it it had some home-made things in it, not to mention the poshest box of chocolates I've ever seen. That was so thoughtful of them. I'm sure I don't really deserve it.
Last night at the pub
When I went out for a fag, my friend from uni's brother came by with his partner. that was a lovely surprise. Someone I know from the pub where I used to go came past and was decidedly tepid towards me. Incidentally I had bumped into someone else from that place earlier on, and they were polite. I can't say much else. Never mind. I'd rather get rid of people and things if they're not good for me. I can't be doing with pretense.
Not entirely satisfactory
I don't show any confidential information in Facebook, and today is shown as my birthday (it is not). I've been flooded with kind birthday messages. I don't know what to do about this annual occurrence, as a date must be input in the field.
This morning
After breakfast I did a mountain of washing-up, and then decided to take advantage of the milder weather by going for a walk with my camera. Afterwards I popped in to see my friend at her cafe, before computerising my photos and going to my friends' house, ready for the afternoon walk.
Sleep
I certainly know how to see in the new year in style. I went to bed at 10.30pm and slept round till gone 8am. I woke up with a hangover, but cured myself with toast, egg and bacon. Sorted.
The rest of yesterday
Felling a lot nicer than I had earlier, I summoned up the energy to cook meat sauce and pasta. While it was cooking I had two large gins and a bottle of cider. I had a glass of wine with dinner, while watching Laurel and Hardy in Oliver the Eighth. Afterwards I put on Murder at the Galop, starring Margaret Rutherford, Robert Morley and Flora Robson, but got bored, so I took myself down the pub. I only stayed for one pint and thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn't busy, but nice people that I know were there. They were very friendly, but allowed me to sit on my own without any pressure to do otherwise, and we nattered from time to time. That is an ideal night out for me.
When I got home I watched Laurel and Hardy in The Laurel-Hardy Murder Case and Berth Marks, which I enjoyed with a glass of wine.

Yesterday teatime
After I'd been to the supermarket I met with my friend from uni. It was a very brief affair, but it cheered me up greatly.
